Where can I eat?

Where can I eat if I come for a visit?

The student dining hall, McClurg, is open for parents. During the school year there is continuous dining from 7 a.m.–9 p.m., 7 days a week. The summer hours are posted at www.sewaneedining.com. There are many food options. The cost is $6.50 for breakfast, $8.50 for lunch and 10.50 for dinner.

Restaurants “in town” include The Globe, Stirling’s Coffee House, Julia's, Shenanigans, The Blue Chair, Crust, IvyWild, and Mi Casa. Stirling’s Coffee House provides a pleasant casual gathering place where students, faculty, parents, etc. can purchase light entrees, coffee, tea or light refreshments, and soup and salad. Shenanigans has sandwiches made to order and serves quiche and home-cooked meals. Julia's uses fresh and local ingredients in the meals that are made in-house.  Daily Menus offer always something different, while a daily menu keeps favorite items available.  The Blue Chair Bakery and Coffee Shop, offers a whimsical, comfortable atmosphere with fresh, made-from-scratch breads and baked items along with gourmet coffees and teas; they have breakfast and lunch specials daily. Crust serves pizza with a variety of toppings and sizes to suit all appetites, pastas and salads. Fine dining is available at Ivy Wild in Sewanee. Located between Monteagle and Sewanee, Mi Casa offers a menu of Mexican food. Papa Ron’s in Monteagle has a variety of entrées, including Italian. Parents visiting Sewanee are likely to enjoy the delicious food and pleasant atmosphere at High Point in Monteagle (reservations suggested), and Modern Dave's  is another excellent option- new to Monteagle.

About 7 miles “down the Mountain,” the town of Cowan offers a unique variety of establishments. The Corner House, a Victorian-style tea room, serves a daily luncheon with home-style entrees, desserts, and their famous House Tea. Sernicola’s represents an old family tradition from Naples, Italy, with entrees, soups, and home-made desserts and "Miss Tracie's" has Southern Cooking. In Tracy City you might want to try amazing Tea of the Mountain (you can even have high tea) or the Dutch Maid Bakery for lunch or bakery goods. Fiesta Grill is an excellent Mexican restaurant in Cowan.
